When Holly first reached out to me, she was planning to have their wedding down the coast in the Monterey or Carmel, California area. She and Garret were interested in a Spring 2026 wedding and were pretty clear on their guest count, budget, and the vibe they wanted to set. I introduced them to some beautiful properties, and we discussed wedding reception venues.
All of these ideas were perfect, but there was one word that kept coming up, over and over again. It’s a word I know well, because it’s a big part of most of my planning considerations, when a couple is lucky enough to have senior family members attend. That word is accessibility.
Some very special grandparents would be attending, and one was nearly one hundred years old. She was vibrant and active, but the couple wanted to take extra care that these family VIP’s would be warm, and not have to stay standing, walk too far, or be outdoors in the elements for long periods of time.
Although they were planning on a wedding south of San Francisco, I decided to flip the script and invite them to consider our private micro wedding venue, to the north of the City, just over the Golden Gate Bridge. I’ve been creating luxury Airbnb-style weddings at this exclusive multi-million dollar property since 2020. The owner of the property offered the space to us during the year traditional venues had to stay closed, only to host tiny elopement weddings, and we’ve grown so much since then!
This property luxury home has a rock ‘ n ‘ roll pedigree, with the Grateful Dead using it as a party house and writing some of their classic music there! That was the old days, before a full renovation that made it beautifully updated, while keeping the original theme of bringing the outdoors inside. Solid walls of reclaimed redwood, incredible floor-to-ceiling glass overlooking the mountains of Mt tam, with the beach below, make it a favorite among our couples who want a warm, welcoming, laid-back space for their families to gather and celebrate their wedding day.
They told me that the highlights of their day were time spent with close family while they got ready; those intimate moments and quiet conversations will be cherished memories forever. They especially loved their intimate couples’ wedding photography at Muir Woods, our local redwood forest. Two-thousand-year-old trees stood proudly, welcoming them to this sacred grove, and they had SO much fun! Holly brought a vintage family coat and some sassy “just married” sunglasses that are trending hard this year.
When they returned to the venue, it was time for their big surprise for their guests! They had hired i Love Hibachi to come and cook for their guests and entertain them on the lawn, while they cooked a delicious dinner. Everyone was raving about this portion of the wedding for days afterward.
Some of our micro wedding packages include two-night stays on the property, and there are three separate units guests can stay in. This is a fantastic option if you don’t want the party to end until you’ve been celebrated a little bit longer.
A wedding for under $10,000 was their plan, and this is what came with their package:
-A two-night complimentary stay at the property.
-A professional wedding officiant to enact your wedding ceremony
-Four hours of wedding photography
-Guests on property for six hours (except those who were staying over)
-Bridal and groom’s getting ready suites, with complimentary bubbly and snacks
-Hair and makeup in the bridal suite (they expanded this order to include their mothers)
-Custom-designed bridal bouquet and boutonniere (they expanded and ordered extra flowers for senior family members)
-On the day of the wedding, a wedding butler they set up wedding chairs, parks cars, and serves welcome cocktails
-Wedding planner and day-of coordinator to set up the reception and guide the wedding party and guests
-Guidance on rentals and catering
-And most importantly, a petite cutting cake and bubbly to toast with your guests!
This California micro-wedding venue is near San Francisco but away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It was perfect for Holly and Garrett. They arrived as fiancés and left the property as relaxed and happy newlyweds.
